Children.

Our Calling.

Our Mission.

Our Work.

Our Responsibility.

Our Privilege.

The Most Important Focus

Of the Church in Our Time

State Director Richard Summerford sees a grand, God-sized opportunity - and responsibility before us

I hope that as you have read this newsletter you see all the great things God is doing in CEF, and that you have sensed His heart. Jesus made it clear, “…let the little children come to me and do not forbid them.” Mark 10:14.   God loves His children.  We, as a society, have turned our backs on them. “…but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”  Matthew 18:6.   But, thankfully, many people are realizing this and are willing to give, work, and pray to reach the future generation. People like Josh McDowell and George Barna, see this as the most important focus of the church in our time. We must reach our children—and time is running out!

Three years ago, our state board, local directors and local board members met to pray and seek the Lord for direction.  Not only did He give clear direction, but He gave us a specific objective—to establish a “light house” in every elementary school in our state with an After-School Good News Club, where children could learn about Jesus, read the Bible, pray, and receive Jesus as Savior. “Even so it is not the will of your father who in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” Matthew 18:14.

Regrettably, not everyone sees this as a priority.  But, thankfully, many church leaders agree with us that if we lose another generation, our country will be at a point of no return. The children are calling out by saying, Who cares if I find my security in the gangs, drugs or prostitution? We care! My prayer is that the Lord will move the hearts of His people to step forward with us to reach every child with the Gospel---one by one. Won’t you tell others about our objective and encourage them to join us in showing our children the love of Jesus!

Goal: By the end of 2010 school year, CEF will be ministering the Gospel to 60,000+ children in our After-School Good News Club program.

Vision: Over the next five years to have an After-School Good News Club in every elementary school in S.C. 609 schools

Our focus will be in five areas:

1) To develop the State Board by adding men and women with a vision to reach the children with the Gospel.

2) To develop the funds necessary to reach our goal by asking God and telling His people of our needs. $150,000 over our annual budget over the next five years.

3) To develop new chapters by hiring county coordinators who will be responsible for overseeing the After-School Good News Clubs in each of the five new areas.

4) To evaluate our existing chapters and determine what their needs are to accomplish our state goal.

5) To organize and charter five new chapters to cover the remaining counties in the state.

We must start immediately while the opportunity is before us. The Lord has made this possible and with your help our culture can be changed for our future generation. May we meet this challenge and not look back.

Did You Know?

This past summer our Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) missionaries (104) reached approximately 13000 children through 5-Day Clubs and their participation in KidFest events.
