Every County. Every School.  Every Child.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2001 in Good News Clubs v. Milford Central School that Good News Clubs can meet in public schools after school hours on the same terms as other community groups. Although CEF has many strong outreach ministries to children, After-School Good News Clubs are especially important. We work in cooperation with public schools to supplement the children's education with biblical principles. Sound Bible teaching not only helps children grow spiritually, it also has a positive impact on their personal and home life, school performance and decision-making skills. Churches nationwide are adopting public schools for Good News Club ministry. To learn about adopting a school in your area click on the yellow sign to the right. Your church can reach out to your community through after-school Good News Clubs! Each week the teachers present an exciting Bible lesson using colorful materials from CEF Press. This action-packed time with the children also includes songs, Scripture memory, a missions story and review games or other activities focused on the lesson's theme. As with all CEF ministries, the purpose of after-school Good News Clubs is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living. To accomplish this goal, each club includes a clear presentation of the Gospel and an opportunity for children to trust Jesus as Savior. Each club also includes strong discipleship training to build character and strengthen moral and spiritual growth. All clubbers are encouraged to attend a local church.

She found a Wonder-ful Friend

the true story of yet another child finding hope in the After-School Good News Club

Three years ago the State Board, State Director, and our six Area Directors gathered to seek God’s direction for the work of Child Evangelism Fellowship of South Carolina.  The vision was clear to reach every county, every school, and every child with the Gospel though the After-School Good News Club program.

Since that time the growth in CEF of SC has been incredible.

A teacher from one local elementary school reported about Darius, a young boy who was in constant trouble and visited the principal’s office at least once a week.  Not long after beginning to attend the After-School Good News Club, Darius accepted Jesus into his life.  The results were immediately noticed as the teacher reported his grades improving, better social behavior, and greater respect for authority.  “About the worst thing he has been doing lately is calling out across the room to ask his friend if he had memorized his Bible verse for the Club a the end of the day.” She said.

While CEF sponsors other neighborhood Clubs (48 throughout the state to be exact), the main thrust of this vision is through the After-School program.

Since the 2001 Supreme Court decision to allow Good News Clubs into the public schools, thousands of schools have been adopted by churches as CEF provides the training, materials, on-going support, and organizational development between church and school.

During the 2005-2006 school year we have helped churches adopt 137 schools throughout the state to provide an After-School Good News Club.  These weekly Bible Clubs provide the opportunity for children to hear the Gospel and become discipled through God’s Word.  Over 1800 volunteers reached over 8000 children each week with nearly 800 receiving salvation.  There are more counties, schools, and children to reach but with God all things are possible.
