Since that time the growth
in CEF of SC has been incredible.
A teacher from one local elementary school reported about Darius,
a young boy who was in constant trouble and visited the principal’s office at least once a week. Not long after beginning
to attend the After-School Good News Club, Darius accepted Jesus into his life. The results were immediately noticed as the
teacher reported his grades improving, better social behavior, and greater respect for authority. “About the worst
thing he has been doing lately is calling out across the room to ask his friend if he had memorized his Bible verse for the
Club a the end of the day.” She said.
While CEF sponsors other neighborhood Clubs
(48 throughout the state to be exact), the main thrust of this vision is through the After-School program.
Since the 2001 Supreme Court decision to allow Good News Clubs into the public schools, thousands of schools
have been adopted by churches as CEF provides the training, materials, on-going support, and organizational development between
church and school.
During the 2005-2006 school year we have helped churches adopt
137 schools throughout the state to provide an After-School Good News Club. These weekly Bible Clubs provide the opportunity
for children to hear the Gospel and become discipled through God’s Word. Over 1800 volunteers reached over 8000 children
each week with nearly 800 receiving salvation. There are more counties, schools, and children to reach but with God all things
are possible.
